Emmet Hibson knows how to negotiate with cops. He does it for City Hall. But when a beat cop pulled over his Mercedes last week, Hibson didn’t argue.
Hibson is the city’s director of organizational development. He oversees the city’s negotiations with unions.
On Thursday, he was driving by Yale’s Payne Whitney Gym when Officer Jeffrey Fletcher pulled his car over.
“They said I ran a red light,” Hibson recalled.
Hibson said he didn’t think he had run the light, but “if they say it’s red, it’s red.”
“I didn’t argue with the guy,” he said.
Cops checked the registration on Hibson’s silver 2000 E‑class Mercedes-Benz. The registration had expired.
Hibson acknowledged the error. He said he had failed to renew the registration on his car, “for no good reason.”
Fletcher issued him a ticket for failure to obey signal and failure to renew motor-vehicle registration.
Hibson said he has since registered his car and paid the ticket.
Is this really news???
