Crash Kills 1, Injures 3

Reported high speeds and erratic driving” ended in a fatal crash late Tuesday night on Ella Grasso Boulevard.

The crash, involving a 2002 Toyota Camry, occurred around 11:40 p.m. between Lamberton Street and Washington Avenue. The occupants were reported to have been coming from an Orange pool hall, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Jovany Rosas-Marquez, of New Haven, had been sitting in the back seat. He was sent to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m., according to Hartman.

Good Samaritans” pulled two occupants out of the car, including the driver, a 28-year-old West Haven man, along with a 32-year-old New Havener. Cops found the pair sitting on the sidewalk; they found the fourth occupant walking on the Boulevard. All three suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The department’s Crash Investigation Team is undertaking an investigation of the crash. Based on witness reports, high speeds and erratic driving are suspected factors in this crash,” Hartman wrote in a release.

Home Invasion

Also Tuesday, a 35-year-old woman told police that two gun-wielding men” entered her Ellsworth Avenue apartment, struck her on the head and pushed her to the floor,” then took off with $8,000 she kept tucked inside her pants.”

Police arrested the victim because she had five outstanding violation-of-probation warrants, Hartman said. Police have not caught the attackers, he reported.
