Derby’s Anita Dugatto and Richard Dziekan were interviewed together Monday on “Valley Navel Gazing,” a weekly talk show on WNHH-LP FM.
It’s the first time in a decade the candidates for Derby’s top elected office debated the issues with an audience listening.
Topics covered included economic development, education funding, O’Sullivan’s Island, Storm Ambulance funding, Democratic infighting, former Mayor Anthony Staffieri’s influence on the Republican campaign, and the candidates’ opinions on the single most important issue facing Derby.
Dugatto, a Democrat finishing her first term, is being challenged by Dziekan, a Republican member of the city’s tax board.
Dugatto owns a dental practice in Derby. Dziekan is a retired Hamden police officer.
