Downtown Devil’s Gears Up

Bicycles were out in force on Pitkin Plaza Tuesday morning — with no one sitting on them.

The line of two-wheeled vehicles outside the new 360 State Street complex on Orange Street heralded the long-awaited opening of the new downtown Devil’s Gear bike shop.

The popular store and cyclists’ mecca moved from Chapel and Hamilton Street to the ground floor of 360 State, which has embraced cyclists and other green” features.

Devil’s Gear owner Matt Feiner finished building out the space (on his own) Monday night and opened for business Tuesday morning. Downtown cycling commuter Stephanie Jaworowicz was among the first customers, receiving a quick Feiner tutorial on bike lights and a celebratory fist bump (pictured below).

Feiner plans a formal ribbon-cutting with a parade of worthies on Oct. 7.
