Justin Elicker Makes It Up As He Goes Along

A Land Trust chief pulled out his guitar, and Music Haveners pulled out their string instruments, as WNHH’s Great Give” radiothon wrapped up its 36-hour fundraising bash with song.

Dozens of the community groups raising money through the the Community for Greater New Haven’s annual Great Give” competition were invited to appear on a radiothon on WNHH FM to make a pitch for you to give them money. But first they’ve been asked to sing (a song) or recite (a poem) for their supper.

The not-for-profit arts groups and other organizations participating in the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven’s annual Great Give” fundraising competition stopped by the studio to give a short performance, then make their pitch. (The Great Give itself has been extended until noon on Thursday.)

Justin Elicker, of the New Haven Land Trust, spoke about the great work his group does with community gardens and other greenspaces around town. Then he made up a song on the spot about a radio host cuttinghis finger slicing kale. Click on the above video to listen.

And listen to the above video to hear the joyful sounds that Music Haven brought into the studio, including a Bach piece played on viola by Annalisa Boerner of the organization’s Haven String Quartet. Please support them and all other not-for-profits by clicking here for the Great Give!
