The City Plan Commission Wednesday night gave the OK for a new six-unit condominium, but with conditions that may alter the project.
Hamden architect Peg Chambers wasn’t so happy with the information City Engineer Richard Miller and other Commission members gave to her when she received her approval to build Fairmont Walk on a vacant lot on Fairmont Avenue.
“I don’t know to what degree we can do this, but we have permission for the maximum number of units” the developer can build by right, she said.
Chambers appeared for developer Juan Jose Alvarez deo Lugo, owner of Arquin Decoraciones LLC. Miller suggested that the developer be required to provide neighbors with the ability to take an inventory of household goods that might be damaged during construction, especially drilling and chipping of the sandstone under about four feet of earth on the site.
“It makes sense to show plans to your neighbors,” Miller said.
The board required standard blasting conditions be added to the approval. After all the requirements,
Chambers said the group would rethink the project, perhaps not building all the units for which they are entitled.
