Homicide On Hazel Street

Does anyone keep track of the number of non-fatal shootings? It would be interesting to see a year to year comparison. New Haven/Hamden seems to be way up but maybe that's just my perception

My condolences to the loved ones of the young man who was murdered.
Please fight the desire for revenge and don't retaliate. Instead, contribute to a cause in celebration of his life. Donate, raise funds for or join an anti-violence group. Donate or raise funds for a substance abuse clinic or support group. Donate or raise funds for a youth activity group.
To the neighborhood where he was killed, please, if you see something, say something. The more people get away with violence, the more likely it is to be you or your loved ones in the crossfire, shot by accident as a bystander. The only way to stop the violence, it to prevent it from happening again. Speak out, stand up, snitch to save a life. You need to come together as a neighborhood and say no more. Join or organize a neighborhood watch. Join or organize a neighborhood youth activity group. Help your elderly or disabled neighbors. Clean up the yards and the streets in front of where you live. Call the city and complain to the police, the Livable City Initiative, Public Works Dept about trash, broken windows, run down and abandoned properties, broken streetlights, etc. Make a difference in your neighborhood and let your neighbors know that you care about the way things are and encourage them to join you in making a difference.
To the murderer and the people who love you, please turn yourself in to the authorities. If you continue to live a life of violence, chances are that you or your loved ones will be injured or die because of the violence you bring your way and theirs. Break the cycle of violence.
