Shocked. Shocked? Underage Drinking Discovered At Clubhouse Cafe

You can excuse Hamden cops for not being shocked — shocked! — to find the Clubhouse Café crawling with underaged drinkers.

Members of the department’s Street Interdiction Team, Patrol Division and Traffic Division Friday raided the 3816 Whitney Ave. establishment, near the Quinnipiac University campus. They were responding to 411 Tip Line complaints pertaining to underage drinking.”

Upon arrival, the officers found — ready for this? — “‘in excess of 100’ infractions to patrons that were under 21 years of age,’” according to a release issued Monday by Hamden police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

It was deja vu for the cops: When they conducted a similar operation at the Bobcat watering hole” in April 2018, found about 100 drinkers under 21 years old, including 42 with fake IDs. At the time the club received several state fines and was closed for three days.

Smith reported that Hamden has notified the State Liquor Commission about the latest alleged violations.
