New Haven’s Linda Lager is the state’s new chief administrative judge for civil matters.
That puts her in charges of the handling of cases ranging from administrative decision appeals to eminent domain, from estates and trusts to property and vehicular torts.
Chief Court Administrator Barbara M. Quinn announced Lager’s appointment Tuesday. Judge Lager (pictured) has most recently been serving as the New Haven Judicial District’s administrative judge.

Judge Lager ordered the alteration of signs posted in the GA court on Elm Street, to remove the rule banning note taking in the courtrooms. She did it within a day of learning about it.
She also allowed the the press in to photograph the sign before it was altered. She also laid down guidelines protecting timely access to case files in the clerk's office.
Public access under her short tenure as chief administrator in New Haven was guaranteed.
