Lighthouse Park Re-Opened

Lighthouse Point Park is open again, three days after the city announced its indefinite closure due to damage caused by Tropical Storm Isaias.

Mayor Justin Elicker announced the reopening of the Morris Cove waterfront park Monday afternoon via Facebook and Twitter.

As of 12 p.m. Monday, he wrote, Lighthouse Point Park has electricity again after going dark following last week’s storm. City spokesperson Gage Frank told the Independent that the city has also finished clearing up wind-strewn debris from the park.

The city had announced the park’s indefinite closure last Friday.

Elicker also announced via Twitter that, as of 3 p.m., the city has 51 households still without power. That’s roughly 0.09 percent of the city. At the height of the storm-caused power outages last Tuesday, nearly 12,000 New Haven households were without electricity.
