Less than two weeks after a 28-year-old was fatally shot at the Church Street South housing projects, police on Monday charged a man with murder.
Police spokesman Officer David Hartman announced that news Tuesday afternoon.
The arrest stems from a Sept. 18 shooting at Church Street South. Police found a man who had been shot inside the “front vestibule” of an apartment in the Malcolm Court section of the housing complex. The man, 28-year-old, Joseph Mirvil was later pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Police investigated the crime and secured an arrest warrant for a 20-year-old man. The found him on Carlisle Street in the Hill and arrested him without incident.
The man is being held on a $1 million bond. Police will hold a press conference on Wednesday morning to discuss the arrest.
The cops responsible for the arrest, according to a police department release, are: Sgt. Tony Reyes, and Detectives Mike Wuchek, Nicole Natale, Bertram Ettienne, David Zaweski. The lead investigator was Detective Elise Tuozzoli.
