Westville neighbors reported shots fired. Police found a car with blood in it a block away. Then a 21-year-old walked into the Hospital of St. Raphael with a gunshot wound.
That chain of events took place Monday night, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery. Here’s what he said happened:
At around 10:26 p.m., police received several calls reporting gunshots near Harrison Street and Whalley Avenue in Westville. Cops found a damaged vehicle with blood in it in front of 41 Philip St., nearby. Not long after that, a 21-year-old came into the Hospital of St. Raphael with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower torso. He was reportedly the occupant of the car.
In other police news, according to Avery:
At 10:41 p.m., police responded to a report of gunfire at 151 Cedar St. They found several shell casings and at least two bullet holes in the building.
At 1:28 a.m. Tuesday, several men at the Farnam Court housing project on Grand Avenue fled after spotting cops nearby. As police gave chase, one of the men discharged a gun, apparently while pulling the piece out to ditch it. Police didn’t catch that guy, but they arrested three others, for trespassing and interfering.
