Adam Marchand is looking to make it a decade as a Westville alder.

Marchand filed papers at the City Clerk’s office Friday to run for a fifth two-year term as a Democrat representing Ward 25 on the Board of Alders.

Marchand, who works for Yale’s UNITE HERE union, has played a leading role on the board on issues like neighborhood development, budgeting, transportation, and town-gown relations, as well as containing government health care costs. He also sits on the City Plan Commission.

It’s a tremendous honor to represent our part of Westville. It’s one of the most civically engaged neighborhoods. The expectations are high. The bar is high. It’s difficult and challenging. It’s also rewarding,” Marchand said as he submitted his papers.

He has built up enough experience and good relationships” to continue to advocate well for our neighborhood” for increased police patrols, traffic-calming and protected bike lanes; and citywide for affordable housing, improved police-community relations, and jobs for New Haven residents.”

No one at this point has filed to run against Marchand.
