Argument Ends With Man Shot Dead

RIP, as peace was not to had on the streets of New Haven. What's the body count now for the past 40, yes 40 years here.

Hamden is the new New Haven. They are at the "these incidents are not believed to be random" stage of the violence. This is the stage where the politcos acknowledge the violence but try to reassure the general public by saying the shooting is not random, and therefore they are safe so long as they stay away from problem areas and problem people. The next stage, based on New Haven's trajectory, is when the gunshots begin to happen in the nicer neighborhoods bc much of the gang and drug trafficing is now mobile. That's when you start hearing the gunshots in East Rock and Westville. In this stage, the politicos begin to blame the violence on larger national issues - covid, unemployment, systemic racism.

My condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.
When are we going to stop using violence to resolve disputes? When are we going to stop our culture of violence? When are we going to stop our gun culture? Our toxic masculinity culture? Our outlaw and villain worship? Our celebrating in video games and movies and television and the online social media posting of illegal non-street legal and dangerous use of motorized toys in the streets and stealing vehicles and racing from the cops? When are we going to stop glorifying gangs and mobsters and serial killers and domestic violence killers and blowing stuff up? When are we going to stop using paintball guns and laser tag and weekend warrior apocalypse training using mock killing as entertainment? Our society has a violence problem and toxic masculinity problem that makes millions and billions of dollars on the monetizing and glorification and macho-ness of violence and danger and criminality and machismo on every level. Until our society stops profiting from the sales of weapons and the glorification of violence and crime as entertainment, until we address the toxic masculinity that equates maleness with toughness, until we decide that people are more important than profits and kindness is more important than toughness to determine what makes a man, we will continue to lay our loved ones in graves far too early, and we will continue to live in fear of injury or death due to our culture.

Hamden has become like the wild, wild west.

Dear Heather-- real men are not toxic. These ultra violent males are distortions of what masculinity is because as you said, the media has created this "ideal". Since the opposite is the weak-willed, so-called " feminized" man(can't think of another term to us); we can only hope for a happy medium to be found.
