New Haven Police Patrol In Pairs

New Haven police are pairing up on patrols Friday, the day after snipers shot and killed five police officers in Dallas.

Officers in the New Haven Police Department will pair up during patrols instead of heading out in their cars solo, according to a release from spokesperson Officer David Hartman. The department is taking other measures to make patrol patterns less predictable,

The command staff has discussed the changes with officers, urging them to protect the city and themselves.

At least one sniper shot and killed five police officers in Dallas Thursday, at a rally against police shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana. Police in Dallas killed one suspect using a bomb delivered by a robot. Three others are in police custody.
