Pit Bull Attacks Students

Three Lincoln-Bassett School students were treated for injuries, one in the hospital, after a pit bull attacked them on the playground.

The incident occurred at the school during recess Tuesday morning.

A pit bull came onto the property and began chasing children. Staff responded by getting children indoors or out of the dog’s reach on the gym equipment,” schools spokesperson Justin Harmon reported in a release. Unfortunately, one child was bitten and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Two others were treated on scene for scratches. Their parents were notified.

The school social worker and a psychologist met with our first graders to help them process what happened. Going forward, we will conduct their recess inside the enclosed playground on the school property.”

Police and paramedics responded to the scene to help.
