3 Robberies, 2 Suspects

Cops are looking for people who carried out three separate robberies around town Sunday.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:

The first incident involved a home invasion at an apartment house, the site of numerous crimes over the years, at Chapel and Winthrop. A 45-year-old woman responded to a knock on her door around 4 a.m. A man and woman forced their way inside. The man had a gun and pushed her to the floor. She was held there as the two searched her pockets. The man took whatever money was inside her purse and broke her inhaler before leaving the apartment.”

Ace police hound Bitang helped cops develop a lead on a suspect in a separate robbery that occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the Edgewood neighborhood. Two men told Officer Jessica Stone that two armed young men had confronted them between Ellsworth Avenue and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard after they left their parked car. The muggers told the victims to empty their pockets. One of them ended up turning over a Blackberry — and keys to his Volvo, in which the perps fled. Alerted by the victims, the cops lookced for the Volvo. They found it about 20 minutes later … parked and unoccupied on Parmalee Street.”

Bitang smelled the car, then followed a scent trail to an address on Tyler Street, where a man matching the taller perpetrator’s description was located. However, the victims weren’t positive that the man detained by officers was the same man who had conspired to rob them.” So the investigation continues.

Police have also developed a lead on one of two muggers who, dressed in all black clothes and black ski hats,” robbed a man at gunpoint behind John C. Daniels School in the Hill around 9:30 p.m. The muggers were reported to have discussed whether they leave since the victim hadn’t anything of value. During their banter, three bullets fell to the ground from the robber’s pistol. The two men fled with the victim’s cell
phone and four loose cigarettes.”
