Truman Teacher Arrested For Alleged Assault

Although an adult should always control themselves I would like to hear more details. Was this teacher attacked, slapped, spit or kicked? I'm wondering because this is constantly happening where teachers are verbally and physically assaulted. The only thing that happens to these kids is a slap on the wrist and talk about there feelings. If this teacher was the aggressor whelp too bad you should be arrested. Either way the parents will have a lawsuit against NHPS.

Today I read the article about Amistad students and what they have to deal with, only to have it fall on deaf ears. Then I read this statement about this incident at Truman:

"The district takes very seriously any incident that poses physical risk to a student," public schools spokesperson Justin Harmon wrote in a separate release.

Sooooooo.... the district notified DCF for all of those wonderful things happening at Amistad?

The situation at Amistad was handled back in 2019.
Individual was fired

I'm sure the school did not call or they could not cover it up; as they normally do.
Why don't we ask what happened to the student who brought the BB gun to school?--NOTHING!!
The lack of follow through on these stories leads to people making leaps and conclusions on their own , without knowing all the facts. I blame the media for telling enough to anger but not inform the public on an entire story.

As only the partial story is known, there is little to say about this incident yet. An in depth story about the violence that is exploding in our schools might be a better topic and give some perspective. It seems to be part of a nationwide descent into infantile, thoughtless behavior and it must stop

Regardless of what a student did or did not do, it is NEVER okay for a teacher to lay hands on a student. The fact that the teacher was arrested says that the charges were serious.
I'm very concerned that the school system needs to take a long hard look at the recent multiple incidents that have been happening at schools around the area with violence, aggression, sexual assault and harassment and put in a better complaints reporting system where students can feel safe coming forward to let someone in authority know when there is unacceptable behavior with students or staff, and notification is given to the parents and students of the actions taken and the resolution of the complaint, and counseling given to the victims of unwanted and unacceptable behavior.
We need to protect our children, all employees of a school have a duty to report abuse to the appropriate authorities, and children and parents need swift action taken and to see consequences for bad behavior and have access to counselors to help them process these incidents.

Students need to be protected but teachers and staff need PROTECTION also! Some of these kids are brutally out of control! Some of these teachers are verbally and physically abused at school! It's terrible and sad!

Yes this article is vague when it comes to the details but an arrest obviously means that the school felt as though the teacher was at fault and therefore needed to be arrested. The cops usually speak with both parties involved and if possible any witnesses that may have observed the incident before an arrest is made.Respect goes both ways but it is never ok for a teacher to assault a student and some of them try to sweep it under the rug and hope that no one believes the student. I hope this student recovers both mentally and physically from this event .

Often police give very little information out about an incident or even sometimes an arrest, because they seek to avoid compromising the investigation. If too many details come out right away, it becomes more difficult to gather crucial evidence to make charges stick.
