Where, When To Vote Tuesday

Polls will open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout Hamden and in New Haven’s Newhallville neighborhood for Democratic primary elections.

Hamden voters will choose among three Democrats for mayor: incumbent Curt Leng, Democratic Town Committee-endorsed candidate Lauren Garrett, and challenger Peter Cyr.

Hamden voters will also choose among two slates of candidates for seats on the Legislative Council and Board of Education. Click here to read a story about that.

The winner of the Democratic mayoral primary will face Republican Ron Gambardella and Independent Party candidate Albert Lotto in the general election on Nov. 2. Republicans and the Independent Party are also fielding candidates for Council and Board of Education seats.

Meanwhile, in Newhallville’s Ward 20 will choose among three Democrats for an open seat on the Board of Alders. Democratic Town Committee-endorsed Shirley Lawrence faces challengers Devin Avshalom-Smith and Addie Kimbrough. Kimbrough has also petitioned for a slot on the Nov. 2 general election ballot as an unaffiliated candidate should she lose the primary.

Voting takes place at Lincoln Bassett School at 130 Bassett St.
