No wonder all you get is a one sided story with a few blurbs from others while the mayor rambles on and on and all is printed.
Wow, so very sad that the public can't get all the details.

My bias is probably quite obvious in this case, but the sad reality is that newspapers in this region do little to attract/retain good talent. They are mired in old-world thinking and misunderstandings as to their relevance. The changes I've seen at our dailies and weeklies in coverage are a shift further away from relevancy, as they embrace the technical revolution we've all known about since 1999 in a half-hearted and noncommittal fashion.

The editorial focuses at the Reg and other local papers are neither relevant nor interesting--especially not to many young reporters in my opinion, and certainly not to me as a news consumer.

This move will be an excellent one for Betsy, enabling her to be part of a fundamental change in her community. While we may be losing a strong voice in our press, we are gaining a strong advocate for the children of New Haven.

Congratulations Betsy! The Advocate will surely miss your scoops and level-headed reportage.

As for coming back to CT, Tessa, I am flattered at the thought -- but the land of fleece and granola (aka Vermont) has me firmly in its tree-hugging clutches.

Scoop? Please. .... I hope she makes a substantive contribution to New Haven's Promise, rather than become the tool for shiny brochures and useless reports.
