New Haven Young Republicans Decry Domestic Terrorism”

The executive board of the New Haven County Young Republicans issued a statement Thursday unequivocally condemning” Wednesday’s rioting at the U.S. Capitol.

The statement, signed by Patrick Burland, David Papcin, Matt Schwartz, Robert Mullins, and Frank Musante, read:

The New Haven County Young Republicans unequivocally condemn the unlawful violence committed by rioters at the Capitol today. Attempts to obstruct the electoral certification process of President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris through coercion and violence constitute domestic terrorism. All those involved in these criminal activities must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The actions of the rioters undermine the stability of our democracy and are an intolerable departure from American values.

The brave men and women who have put their lives on the line today defending the continuity of government, as well as their families, will be in our prayers.

As New Haven County’s largest Republican youth organization, with members from across the county, we call on President Trump, leaders within the Republican party, and all elected Representatives to condemn the reckless behavior of the rioters at the capitol.
