Proposed Senior Center

First Selectman Anthony Unk” DaRos unveiled new drawings for a proposed senior center at 175 North Main St. to a group of seniors last night. Seniors were very impressed and made several suggestions, he said.

He presented the plans at the Canoe Brook Senior Center Tuesday night in order to get input from the seniors.

Seniors will help to design the new center,” he said after the first set of seniors set their eyes on the new drawings. The new senior center is part of a swap involving three buildings.

The senior center plans to move from the town-owned Canoe Brook Center on Cherry Hill Road to the office building at 175 North Main St., which is owned by the Giordano family’s Queach Corporation. In exchange, the Giordano family would convert the current Board of Education building at the corner of Main and Montowese streets across from the Town Green into offices. Their plans can be seen here.

The Eagle obtained copies of the Senior Center drawings prepared by Quisenberry Arcari Architects, LLC of Farmington, CT. Scroll down to see two more views.
