Tabor Master Plan Unveiled

A new Tabor Drive Master Plan that includes softball and baseball fields, walking trails, a cemetery and a new public works building, was made public at a recent Board of Finance meeting.

The Eagle has obtained copies of the Master Plan along with drawings of the new fire headquarters on North Main Street. Eventually the Tabor site will hold a new concessions and playground building and a parks/recreation building to store equipment for maintenance of the ball fields. These buildings will be erected at a later date. The main focus is on the public works facility.

Here is a close-up of the new public works building. The public works building will move from its current site adjacent to fire headquarters at 43 – 45 North Main St. to the Tabor Drive site. The new fire headquarters building can then be built where public works once stood while maintaining the operation of the existing fire headquarters building. This will enable construction without interruption or compromise of services. The first step is to move public works.

The second step is to demolish the public works building at the North Main street site. The main building for public works was built in the early 1960s with an additional storage building built in the 1980s. The salt & sand shed were built in the late 1990s.
