George Paris, 94

George Paris, age 94, of New Haven, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Saint Raphael Hospital. George was born on July 13, 1926, in Davisboro, GA, to the late Booker T. and Maggie (Gibbons) Paris.

Beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend’

George attended Henderson Grove School in the Washington County School System.

George travelled and sang with a gospel singing group called the Golden Stars.” He was a longtime member of St. Matthews Unison Freewill Baptist Church; he became a member of the Elks lodge and Kellogg lodge No. 5 of Waterbury. George worked as a Bus Driver for the New Haven Transit for over 28 years before his retirement. He was an entrepreneur in starting his own exterminating business.

George was smooth on the dance floor and one of his favorite past times, he enjoyed playing pool. George loved family gatherings and spending time with his loved ones.

Survivors include his sons, Jonathan Paris of New Haven; David Paris, of Milford, George Jamar Paris of SC; Stepdaughter Beverley Vaughn (Charles); brother, Matthew Paris of Rochester, NY; sister Vivian Paris (Clarence) Mitchell, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Quincy Paris, Booker T. Paris, Freddie Paris. Three sisters Bernice Paris, Eva (Paris) Veney, Nellie Paris Johnson
A memorial service will be planned at the discretion of the family.
