Cherylann Jamison, 67

Cherylann Vida Strother Jamison was born on Dec. 21, 1957, in Middletown, Connecticut, to Horatio Theodore Strother and Joanne Helen Strother. From an early age, she was seen as a beautiful bundle of joy, and her infectious smile left lasting impressions on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. As a young child, Cherylann’s family moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where she attended local public schools and graduated from James Hillhouse High School, marking a pivotal moment in her life.

Following her graduation, Cherylann eagerly entered the workforce, ready to establish her independence. Over the years, she held positions at notable organizations such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Comcast Cable Company, and the Hartford Courant, all while continuing to reside in New Haven. These roles helped her build a strong foundation for her career. In addition to her professional pursuits, Cherylann was a devoted member of the Faith Tabernacle Body of Christ Assembly Apostolic Church led by the late Apostle Hugh Carmichael. There, she served as a Sunday School teacher, positively impacting the lives of many children. Her love for music was also significant, and she sang in the church’s radio choir. This passion extended beyond her church involvement; she was an active member of the Voices of Faith, a musical group that performed nationwide, allowing her to share her love of song with a broad audience.

On Jan. 29, 1977, Cherylann welcomed her first daughter, Nicole Briers, into the world. This new chapter filled her life with joy and purpose, and she embraced motherhood wholeheartedly.

Many years later, after marrying, she celebrated the arrival of her youngest daughter, Honia Jaminson, on Jan. 20, 1987. Both daughters became central figures in her life, and Cherylann took great pride in nurturing and guiding them through their own journeys.

In 1998, seeking new challenges and opportunities, Cherylann relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.

There, she pursued a rewarding career as an independent customer service trainer, specializing in both internal and external relations at the corporate level. Her time in Atlanta was marked by professional growth and meaningful connections within her community. During her years in the city, she became a dedicated member of World Changers Ministries, an influential church led by Dr. Creflo Dollar and Senior Pastor Taffie Dollar. Cherylann immersed herself in various ministry departments within the church, enriching not only her own life but also uplifting those around her through her service and dedication.

Cherylann’s journey took another turn in 2004 when she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, continuing her career as an independent customer service trainer. However, in 2007, she made the decision to return to her roots in New Haven, Connecticut, bringing her expertise and experience back to the local community.

Reflecting on her life, Cherylann embodied unwavering love, resilience, and a profound commitment to her family and community. Her deep dedication to service, combined with her passion for music and strong faith, illustrated her vibrant spirit and the positive impact she made on those around her. Cherylann will be remembered not just for her warmth and kindness, but also for the countless ways she enriched the lives of others throughout her journey, leaving behind a lasting legacy cherished by her family and loved ones.

Cherylann possessed an array of God-given talents that flourished in various aspects of her life.

She had an exceptional green thumb, allowing her to grow and nurture a diverse range of houseplants with ease. In her garden, she found joy in planting colorful flowers and cultivating fresh vegetables, often sharing the bounty of her harvest with neighbors and friends. Her love for nature wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way for her to connect with the earth and express her creativity.

In addition to her gardening skills, Cherylann was blessed with an imaginative spirit that drove her passion for sewing. She often designed and crafted her own patterns, pouring her creativity into making beautiful drapes, curtains, and upholstered furniture that added a personal touch to her home and those of her loved ones. Many brides were fortunate to receive her exquisite floral arrangements for their special days, paired with unique centerpieces that reflected her artistic flair and attention to detail.

Craftiness was another hallmark of Cherylann’s character. She took great joy in sharing her skills, especially with children, fostering their creativity and inspiring them to explore their own talents.

Whether it was through sewing lessons, gardening tips, or crafting projects, Cherylann loved to nurture the next generation’s interest in the arts and crafts.

Cherylann is survived by her two daughters, Nicole Briers and Honia Jaminson, who continue to honor her legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Juwan Lee and Pastor Jarrad (Triana) McCown, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Teryn McCown and Joseph McCown.

In addition, Cherylann is survived by her siblings, Louis Strother and Venise Strother (Librado) Rivera; sister-in-law, Sandra Strother; along with her spiritual sister, Cheryl Merritt.
