Earmatine “Earma” Wearing Woods 59 departed this life Saturday, February 27, 2010. She was born in Georgetown, South Carolina on April 19, 1950 to the late Sam Wearing and Lucille Johnson Wearing. She was employed at Yale New Haven Hospital for 41 years.
“Earma” was a faithful member of Dixwell Avenue Congregational Church, UCC. She leaves to cherish her memory; husband, James Woods; daughter, Cherise Knowlin (Ronald) of SC; 2 grandchildren, Shaquille Knowlin and Shaquira Wearing of SC; 3 Sisters, Theopia Barron (Herman) of SC, Barbara Johnson (Robert) of Hamden and Patsy Heyward (Herman) of New Haven; 2 Brothers, Herman Wearing (Debbie) of New Haven and Hilton Wearing (Doris) of GA; 1 Sister-in-law; 1 Brother-in-law; 3 close friends, Louise Haley Richardson, Marcell Whaiteapple, Betty Rivers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. She was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Wearing (Estelle) and one sister, Maggie Brandon (Ray). A celebration of her life will take place Wednesday March 3, 2010 at 12:30 PM at the Dixwell Avenue Congregational Church UCC 217 Dixwell Avenue New Haven. Friends may call Wednesday at the church from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. Interment will be in the Bethel AME Church Cemetery, Georgetown, SC.
