Gloria Jean Inge, 74, of New Haven, affectionately known as “Jeanie,” passed from this earth on November 20, 2012.
Born in New Haven, December 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Inge.
Jeanie, a stellar student and some say a very gifted piano player, graduated from Hillhouse High School at the age of 16 and began a life of compassion for family and friends in need.
To all who knew Jeanie, she was a caring, wise and non-judgmental voice of reason that made you feel better about yourself just by knowing or speaking with her.
Jeanie had a sharp mind and worked in bookkeeping for the New Haven Register and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Jeanie is survived by a son, Scott Inge of Georgia; a brother, William Inge (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Rebecca Inge and Marlene Hobbs-Bullock; brother-in-law, Howard Hunter; her former husband, Jerry Bell; an aunt, Joyce Willoughby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Hunter and brother Fredrick Inge.
A memorial service will be held December 8, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Curvin K Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
