Joe Mathis, 78 of New Haven, born November 14, 1936 to the late Judge and Annie (Tarver) Mathis passed away on December 30, 2014.
Joe was an owner of a community garden on Stevens Street, New Haven where he will be missed dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory; brother, Jessie Mathis of New Haven; sisters, Alma Mathis of New Haven, Mary Ann Blackman, Annie Lee Dunlap, Farah Mathis, MaryLou Mathis, all of AL and a host of relatives and friends. A celebration of his life will take place, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511 with visitation Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 10 – 11:00AM. Interment is private.
