Shirley Joan Lawrence, 65, of New Haven, passed away Feb. 1, 2017. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica on Oct. 14, 1951. She was employed at Yale University in the food services department for over 31 years.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Leroy (Stacey) Lawrence, Trevor Lawrence, and Carlos (Cassandra) Lawrence; daughters, Rosemarie (Ernie) Lawrence-Benz, Paulette Lawrence, Hanna Lawrence, and Zetilda Lawrence; sister, Monica Anderson; 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Lawrence; and her grandmother, Edna Edwards.
A celebration of life will take place Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bread of Life Fellowship Center, 310 Morse St., Hamden, CT 06517. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
