Paul, I choose to remain identified by my first name and last initial due to my sometimes controversial views to avoid retaliation from those who sadly don’t restrict themselves to fighting with their words. I would not want those who disagree with me to be targeted either for what they say in print online. While in a perfect world we could have civil disagreements and not resort to intimidation or violence, and the NHI does a good job of providing a forum where we can have spirited disagreements in this manner, I would not put it out of the question that some commenters would be at risk of others reactions or retaliations for their opinions or ideas.
Please continue up provide anonymity to your commenters while editing out more flagrant abusive language or threats, and continuing to keep victims or perpetrators names in your articles private until their identities have been released to the public by the authorities or by the persons themselves under your current NHI policy.
