A shooting sent a 5‑year-old boy and his 26-year-old father to the hospital.
The shooting occurred Saturday around 11 p.m. The father and son were shot in a backyard on Judith Terrace between Quinnipiac Avenue and a dead end.
They were taken to the hospital, where the 26-year-old man is listed in critical condition, according to police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway. Shumway reported that the 5‑year-old, “who was grazed by gunfire in the lower leg,” is in stable condition.
Police said they are working on “strong leads.” At this point, the motive for the shooting is unclear.
Five minutes after that shooting, police were notified that a 32-year-old New Haven man walked into the hospital to be treated for “non-life-threatening” injuries after being struck by gunfire.
Hot town, summer in the city!!
No respect for anyone or anything has led us to this state. We have lost our sense of right and wrong. This is not poverty; it is a culture of narcissism and it afflicts rich and middle and poor-- the manifestation is different but the roots are the same. Our founding fathers would not be proud of what we are doing.
