Car Dealerships Called For Help In Pan Manhunt

NHPD

An MIT artificial-intelligence researcher wanted for questioning for the murder of Kevin Jiang visited car dealerships looking to buy a small model SUV prior to last Saturday’s homicide.

That’s according to a newly released city police bulletin sent out by email Friday afternoon.

The one-pager sent out by the New Haven Police Department puts out a special call to Massachusetts and Connecticut car dealerships as part of the ongoing manhunt for Qinxuan Pan.

The 29-year-old MIT researcher is wanted for questioning following the shooting death of Jiang, a 26-year-old Yale grad student who was killed in the Goatville section of East Rock last weekend.

The New Haven Police Department knows Qinxuan Pan visited car dealerships prior to the homicide looking to purchase a small model SUV,” the notice reads. While at the dealerships, Pan asked to test drive vehicles and bring the vehicles to his mechanic for inspection.

If any car dealerships have had any contact with Quinxuan Pan in recent months, please contact the New Haven Police Department immediately at (203) 946‑6304 or the New Haven Police Department Anonymous Tip Line at 1 – 866-888‑8477 Email: ECIC@newhavenct.gov”
