Hamden police and U.S. marshals found a 60-year-old accused child rapist hiding in a New Haven apartment, and arrested him.
Here’s what happened, according to Hamden police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith:
Hamden police learned of the attack on Jan. 13. The victim was “under 12 years of age,” according to Capt. Smith. Detective Angelo DeLieto led an investigation that led to the 60-year-old Hamden man, and obtained an arrest warrant.
Police went to the man’s Concord Street home to arrest him. They learned that that suspect had “suddenly moved and cleared out his apartment” and was seeking to raise money to flee the country.
Hamden Officer Andrew Lipford and members of the United States Marshals Service Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force found him Monday before he could flee, “hiding in a New Haven apartment.” They arrested him on charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. The arrestee is being held on $250,000 bond; his next scheduled court date is Feb. 4.
Good job New Haven, Hamden and the USMSCVFTF for getting this sleazy scumbag off the streets before he was able to flee. Anyone who violates a child and especially in a sexual manner deserves a LONG LIFE behind bars .
