It will be interesting to see how the primary - which is not open to ALL voters - works out with multiple candidates and NO option for Ranked Choice Voting. Will Elicker label the challengers as "spoilers" or is that reserved for other parties?
It's disappointing that Martin Looney, who considers himself a progressive, shut down the movement to STUDY RCV in CT when clearly it is a popular innovation that maximizes voter satisfaction with an outcome where a popular second can prevail. I hope the NHI will continue to explore this option thru this campaign.
There will likely be NO recommendation to use RCV from the every 10 year commission.
We can still vote NO to 4 year term for the mayor.

I dislike both Zoom and hybrid meetings and I much prefer in-person events. But, speaking of remote, the people who turn up for in-person community meetings are not remotely representative of the population. You get folks with time on their hands and folks with a vested interest and folks obsessed with some hobby-horse or another. Zoom lowers the cost of participation at least somewhat. Maybe the BOE should alternate Zoom and in-person.

Also, don't forget the benefits of representative democracy. Even with low electoral participation, the number of people who vote for mayor vastly exceeds the number of people who will ever attend a meeting. One reason "advocates" prefer decision-by-in-person-meetings is so that they can overrule the voters.

Patricia: Martin Looney is 110% an old-school Democratic machine politician and it will take a LOT of pressure for him to agree to anything that could undermine Democratic party control. God forbid we have more than two viable parties in this country.
