President Biden signed passed a bill this weekend to keep part of the federal government funded — and over $4 million of the approved dollars are set to flow to New Haven’s efforts to house the homeless and feed families.
So reports a bringing-home-the-bacon press release from the office of New Haven U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro.
The release details $16 million of spending contained in the $459 billion spending measure that flows to DeLauro’s district, including these four projects directly affecting New Haven:
• $1.1 million for the “non-congregate” (apartment-style) shelter Columbus House is building.
• $1.1 million for a grocery store and food hall included in ConnCORP’s rebuilding of Dixwell Plaza into ConnCAT Place.
• $1.1 million for a “family campus” Friends Center for Children is building on Flint Street.
• $2 million for an expansion of the Connecticut Foodshare warehouse.
