Cops Nab Alleged Burglar

A female college student called Hamden police to tell them she awoke to find an individual standing at the foot of her bed” after he entered her West Woods Road residence through an unsecured door. She screamed. He fled.

A short term earlier, at 11:30 p.m., the police had received a call from another female college student. She observed someone try to break into her residence through a window. She shined a flashlight at the window; he fled.

So reported Hamden police spokesperson Sean J. Dolan.

He said officers responded to the neighborhood, found the suspect’s car, tried to stop him.

The suspect drove away. Hamden officers, with the help of state police, caught up with the man near Exit 16 of I‑84 and apprehended him.

They charged the 24-year-old Bridgeport man with first-degree burglary and criminal attempt to commit burglary, as well as criminal mischief, larceny, and engaging police in pursuit. He is being held on $50,000 bond pending a Dec. 29 court date.
