A 41-year-old New Havener named Jose Rodriguez lost his life in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night.
The crash occurred at Haven and Clay Streets in Fair Haven around 8:30 p.m.
Rodriguez was riding a Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Haven Street toward Clay. The driver of a green sedan was heading west on Clay toward Haven.
They crashed, and the sedan driver fled, according to police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell. The driver remains at large. Rodriguez was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
“Anyone who witnessed this crash or who may have information valuable to the investigators is urged to contact police via phone at 203 946‑6304 or through the Department’s anonymous tip-line at 866 888-TIPS (8477),” Dell wrote in a release issued Thursday morning.
My condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.
I hope the driver is caught.
