Quinnipiac University acquired another single-family home for future student housing, while Mandy Management expanded their holdings in town, in some of the most recent of Hamden property transactions.
655 Fitch St., a Hamden apartment complex that owner Mandy Management moved from Re Fund II NH LLC to Re Fund II Hamden LLC this month.
On Dec. 14, Quinnipiac purchased its eighth house on Hogan Road, which means the university now owns more than a third of the 23 Hogan houses situated near its Mt. Carmel campus. Meanwhile, Altshuler Investments De LLC — which is affiliated with Mandy Management, a megalandlord of poverty and working-class apartments in New Haven and, increasingly, Hamden as well — purchased two properties. Those include 1677 State St., a two-family building appraised at $147,700 that sold for $245,000, and 1673 State St., a larger, 3‑family house, which the Mandy affiliate purchased for almost $80,000 more than its $322,700 appraised value.
Doctors purchase ReFocus ophthalmology's Hamden location.
The biggest sale in the past month — other than a $2,450,000 investment by the APT Foundation to build a methadone clinic in Newhallville, covered by the Independent here — was the $2,065,000 purchase of an ophthalmology practice named ReFocus, by 2880 Old Dixwell Realty LLC from Real Estate of Hamden LLC. The man behind that new LLC: Paul Masi, one of the eye doctors who practices at the Hamden location.
A final highlight of Hamden’s recent property sales is a $137,000 net flip of 230 Benham St.
John Hall bought that house from the Secretary of Housing & Urban Development in March of 2020 for $130,000 and sold it just over a year later, in December of 2021, to Kyleigh Marrero and Matthew Melillo for $267,000.
