Hilton is acquiring Graduate Hotels for $210 million, according to a March 14 press release.

All 30+ Graduate Hotel locations exist in cities and towns with universities, including New Haven. Graduate New Haven, located at 1151 Chapel St., is steps away from Yale’s central campus. It opened in 2019, replacing what was formerly the Hotel Duncan.

Graduate Hotels also houses the Sweet Dreams Society, an artist-in-residence program. Polly Korbel, Graduate New Haven’s artist in residence, confirmed that she had been told by a member of the organization that she and the program would remain.

Graduate New Haven did not respond in time for comment regarding what this means for the Graduate’s employees, and the city’s first new hotel worker union in a quarter century.
