Pedestrian Struck At Quinnipiac And Foxon

Friday night also saw a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle and sustained life threatening injuries at the intersection of Quinnipiac Avenue and Foxon Boulevard at around 8:22 p.m., Duff wrote in a separate press releases.

Here’s what he said happened.

A 21-year-old New Haven woman was driving a Ford Explorer Sport Track pickup truck and traveling southbound in a left turn only lane on Quinnipiac Avenue.

As the truck approached the Foxon Boulevard intersection, Duff wrote, the pedestrian walked from the sidewalk near the gas station driveway at 1260 Quinnipiac Ave. The pedestrian then walked eastbound into the roadway and the front of the truck struck him.

The truck operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, he wrote. No other injuries were reported. Investigators have yet to determine the identity of the pedestrian, who was taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the NHPD Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Haven Police Department at 203 – 946-6316.
