Man Shot Dead In Car; Driver Arrested For Murder

A 49-year-old man named Sean Peterson died after being shot in an Acura MDX Friday — and police have arrested the vehicle’s driver for allegedly pulling the trigger.

City police spokesperson Rose Dell announced that homicide and arrest in a Saturday morning email press release.

She wrote that, on Friday at around 12:38 p.m., city police received a 911 call about a shooting.

The caller stated that a person had been shot in their vehicle and was being transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival at the hospital, patrol officers met the Acura MDX at the emergency room entrance and secured the vehicle as a crime scene.”

The victim, Peterson, succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the left rib cage while receiving medical treatment in the emergency room, Dell wrote.

Investigators later determined that the car’s driver was responsible for the fatal shooting of Peterson. That driver was then taken into custody on-site and charged with murder along with other firearms-related charges. He’s currently being held on a $1 million bond.

This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Sean Peterson,” Police Chief Karl Jacobson is quoted as saying in Saturday’s press release. I commend our investigators for their thorough and diligent work in bringing the suspect responsible for this crime to justice.”
