A 29-year-old New Havener died Sunday afternoon after being shot in the Hill late the night before.
City police announced that Mark Allen Moore was pronounced deceased at Yale-New Haven Hospital after he was shot on Button Street between Spring Street and Putnam Street at 11:39 p.m. Saturday.
City police, firefighters, and American Medical Response personnel located the gunshot victim in a parked motor vehicle after responding to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 calls from the neighborhood.
City police spokesperson Captain Anthony Duff said Moore’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators continue to ask witnesses and anyone with information to contact the New Haven Police Department Detective Bureau at 203 – 946-6304. Callers may remain anonymous.
The American Red Cross also announced that they were helping seven adults from four different families who had been displaced by a fire in their Plymouth Street home early on Saturday.
