Best of luck to all newly appointed administrators for NHPS schools. The kids need your guidance, energy and vision more than ever.

As community advocates, parents, and taxpayers, we are disappointed that Jonathan Berryman, Ms.Rachel Thomas, and Brien Borgnine are all excellent choices as administrators and should be considered as administrators' selection continues! We lose so many young, energetic, intelligent, creative people because of politics, etc. These are professional people that other school districts will hire quickly! As NHPS is known to train for other towns! All three are dedicated to students, parents, colleagues, and the communities they serve without cultural intimidation. They offer so much and as citizens, we do not want to lose these professionals to another school district. NHPS Board of Education take heed to this plea and keep NHPS with these future school administrators in the fore front of modern education.

Once again the district involuntarily moves principals and assistant principals just to "shake things up." This past week the district asked everyone to fill out a survey because they were so concerned about "our well-being" and teacher turnover rates. The survey was primarily filled with questions wanting to know about our school community. A positive school community is the difference between loving your job or dreading walking into the building each morning. NOTHING disrupts a school community more than decimating the positive leadership that a vibrant principal and assistant principal have worked to establish through trust and transparency, than involuntarily moving them to another position. In our school, all the staff were working together to implement a multi-year program where we were honestly meeting the needs of all of our students. But now, the full results of that program will sadly never come to fruition since our administrators were moved. This is exactly why New Haven never gets better, ever. Every time something positive is happening, downtown has to ruin it. The dismal state of New Haven's education is solely a reflection of the people making decisions at the highest level. Shame on all of you for never, ever putting kids nor teachers nor administrators first. If you think teachers were leaving before, you just demonstrated an even more valid reason to leave; for without a positive school community, built on long-term, trusting relationships, education in isolation is meaningless. I know each and everyone of us hoped for more than that, yet downtown once again proves that this level of success and satisfaction is not attainable in New Haven.
