Pay Your Taxes Online

Don’t want to wait at the tax-collector’s office? You can pay your taxes online — if the city’s new site is up and running.

The city on Thursday announced it has partnered with Webster Bank to provide a new online portal through which New Haveners can pay taxes.

On Thursday, one day after the press release was issued, the site was down.

This site will be down from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for system updates and maintenance,” a note read on the website. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.” (The city, not Webster Bank, maintains the site.)

Also new this year, you can pay your car taxes in two installments, in July and January, as long as the bill is over $100. Traditionally, the city allowed only real-estate tax bills to be paid in two separate sums.

The first installment of taxes were due July 1, with a 30-day grace period until the end of this month.
