Pedestrian Struck Dead On Highway

I'm wondering if he was headed to or from the new homeless shelter motel? Isn't this what people were worried about happening in this location? How many more have to die before a thing can be done properly??

Before we start blaming the City for providing a homeless shelter/hotel and the State for not providing a crosswalk to McDonalds/Walmart on Route 80 for this man’s death … maybe we wait to hear what the investigators say. This person was on the travel road of I-91 northbound before Exit 9. The homeless hotel/shelter, McDonalds and Walmart are all off Exit 8 of I-91 … 2.5 miles south of Exit 9. The deceased gentleman was struck near Exit 9 on the northbound side of I-91by a vehicle traveling northbound on I-91. Also, the hotel/shelter is not a ‘drop in’. The resident guests there are registered residents, something that would likely have been associated with the deceased when he was identified and his name included in the reporting.

I share in the condolences for not only the deceased, but my prayers are also for the 20 year old driver from Stamford who struck him as they must also be experiencing trauma.

I see people walking on both sides of 91 quite often. I see motorcycles driving north in the southbound breakdown lane around the ferry street exit frequently. It’s total chaos. Most of the walkers don’t appear to be in distress. Often, the state police stop the motorcycles (usually kids) but I don’t see any interaction with the people walking.

It’s incredibly sad but inevitable. I’m sure more details will emerge.

Does anyone know if the city motel homeless shelter on RT 80 is now fully occupied?

Isn’t walking along a major highway against the law, with the exception of a car breakdown? Why are the J walking laws not enforced in New Haven? Why are aggressive addicted panhandlers from the suburbs in the roads?
