Pit Bull Missing From The Animal Shelter; Public’s Help Sought

A $1,500 reward is on offer for anyone who can help police find Misty, a 4‑year-old female pit-bull terrier who was stolen from the police department animal shelter.

The theft occurred Tuesday at 3:50 a.m., according to police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway. Someone broke into the shelter on Fournier Street, then left with Misty.

A group called Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates has put up the $1,500 reward for anyone who provides information leading to an arrest of the thief.

Shumway asked anyone with information to contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203 – 946-6304. Callers may remain anonymous or submit tips anonymously by calling 1 – 866-888-TIPS(8477), or text NHPD plus your message” to 274637 (CRIMES).’ ”
