Hamden police are asking the public’s help in solving a rash of storm drain grate thefts.
Multiple such thefts have occurred in recent weeks “at various locations throughout town, often on isolated streets,” police spokesperson Sean J. Dolan reported in a Friday news release.
He asked anyone with video footage or other information about “suspicious activity near catch basins” or missing grates to contact the department at 203 – 230-4000.
“Besides the financial impact this causes the town, it also creates a serious hazard to anyone walking or driving near the basins,” Dolan stated.
Probably stolen by drug addicts who might get $10 a grate from a scrap dealer and in the process kill someone
