Are we getting what we are paying for from Aramark? I have talked to many that have said they are truely ripping the city off. What ever happened to the good old lunch room lady's??? You know union jobs, stable jobs, civil servants? I have been told if we 86 Aramark that we would save money. Does anyone have data backing this either way?

Hey way to go Aramark!! Bottom line right.

So let's see. Aramark saves money, improves the food quality, does it consistently for 14 years, and should be thrown right because a national union organizing workers says so. Right...hmmm sounds like there is a vested interest in hurting children and taxpayers here....

Aramark is saving us money?? do you have data? They saved money to make there own bottom line better but what are they costing the tax payers? Again I was told that yes there original contracts did save money but after all the alterations to it, we the tax payers are spending more. That is why dozens of schools are getting rid of them across the country. Don't for get they don't just do school lunches the also do janitor services as well.

Wow -- look at that menu. Who knew a single corporation could provide us with school lunches, janitorial services, and the obesity epidemic?

Alright, if the union comments are truly objective and they are "for the taxpayer" then why demnad more money and benefits every year and strive to increase the amount of unnessecary jobs and overtime which ultimatley costs the tax payer? It seems to me that this is more about membership than anything else. The city has stood by its descisions and there hasn't been a peep about Aramark for the past however many years they have worked with the city. In fact, the workers dont even work for aramark they work for the city. This all looks like a farse to get rid of a management company so they can run amok while masquerading like they are "for the taxpayer" more like they are for "increased membership, more dues, and higher taxes". Afterall, getting rid of aramark does nothing for the taxpayer since someone has to manage the operation and the unions claims are unfounded since they aaren't even employees of the company. Something is up and we need more facts. Furthermore, that billboard on ferry street was probably paid for with dues money which comes from the membership and ultimatley our tax dollars and pockets. Geovernment operations are inefficent bottom line. Ne haven has like 50 schools for 20,000 kids. Maybe we should look at the system that has been set up to fail....or wait until the assesor determines my house has somehow gone up in value in a mrket of decilining prices so that we can get charged higher taxes to pay bloated union wages and fund their membership drives. And we all look around and wonder why jobs move over seas,
; instead of changing we just tax tarrif and unionize. If you doubt that look at germany and england as perfect examples of unions run amok.

Ok Frank if that is your real name. First membership increase is not what is at stake here. we our and have been a local for 50 some odd years.Second if you bother to look at our last contract we lost on our health care.Third you say unnecessary jobs we are 30 posistions short now.Why is it you do not want to look at the people that make six figure salaries or a corporation that makes millions upon millions but choose to go after the lowest paid on the food chain.Do we not deserve to earn a living? I guess you must be under the same mentallity that if a person is not wearing a suit he should not make more then minnimum wage.Also jobs go over seas because of companies like Aramark so they could pay their employees sweatshop wages.But again you are not concerned what upper management makes or how they do or don't perform. Spoken like a true republican. So I say lets go Obama! And by the way we work in the city of New Haven not Ne Haven

Very well spoken Paul. I was about to post just about the same. These unions are a "closed shop". You must join the union to be employed. And since the city is leaving departments understaffed, to look at this as a drive to increase union membership is laughable. And I agree. Do you need a suit and tie to look for better salaries and benefits in a new contract? Everyone employed seeks this, but if you're a cafeteria worker or custodian I guess some people think you're not entitled to the same. Pretty arrogant in my book.
