I live on Q ave. I have lost two pickup trucks in the same fashion. This truck as were mine was parked legally in the correct direction. The first time My truck was totaled a taxi driver apparently fell asleep driving fast crossed the lane and pushed my truck twenty feet along a 8' chainlink fence. He amazingly got out and ran to Dunkin Donuts in Fairhaven and reported his cab stolen. The second time a large SUV did the same thing same spot but on a icy night- he drove away as I stood on my front porch in my underwear. In the 9 years I have lived here... Three cars hitting other cars and ending in my front yard. All three tried to get away on foot. at least a dozen sideswipes resulting in vehicle damage of mine and my guest vehicles.
My point- The road is a long dangerous straightway with no crossstreets. Yes we have our share of drug/ alcohol using drivers. One we can fix the other we curb.
The driver like many hit the big bump where oxford spills onto quinnipiac ave going northbound. He was probably going about 70 which is why tyler put the sign out. After launching off the bump the car probably touched down, veered out of control and hit the truck straight on. The truck got pushed down the hill towards the river and the driver fled up to lennox... This happened just a week after two parked cars where hit about 5 houses down. We pulled a FOI on the accidents reported on Quinnipiac from Ferry to Hemingway and we average one (reported mind you) vehicle accident a week, and any one is capable of being a hit pedestrian as we have no curbing to keep the accidents on the road.
Infrastructure has deteriorated on q ave and I like many are getting fed up with yelling at the 60 mph cars racing down our 25 mph street. Police... Mayor are you listening?????
What's with the 70 mph speed limit sign? Is this performance art? Was the truck hit head on by a car that crossed over the center lane and plowed into the parked truck on the opposite side of the street? Was there alcohol involved? A driver with a history of accidents?
