3‑Year-Old Walks Out Of School

A three-year-old went missing for 10 minutes after walking off his school’s campus in the Hill.

The pre-kindergartener at Truman School left the playground during recess on Monday morning shortly after 10 a.m., district officials said in a statement. He was found a short distance away” about eight minutes later they said.

Staff at the school have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is underway, and the Department of Children and Families was also notifies, Michael Pinto, the district’s chief operating officer, said in an email.

New Haven Public Schools is investigating this incident,” Pinto said in an email. We are reviewing our protocols of our Pre‑K programming as it relates to student safety and active supervision. All Pre‑K staff will continue to receive intensive coaching and supervision of their practices to ensure all child safety practices are followed.”
